Laboratory Activities

Web services lab audience

Considering the conceptual model and the work area of the lab services, the following stakeholders are identified:
  • IRAN Telecommunication Research Center(itrc)
  • Native Seach Engine program
  • IT Laboratories Department of IRAN Telecommunication Research Center(itrc)
  • Laboratory members
  • Web service researchers nationwide
  • Researchers in the field of laboratory services
  • Stakeholders in the field of CrowdSourcing

Given the set of stakeholders identified for the lab, and the interactive role each has in the laboratory, the supply chain for the development of the lab can be imagined as seen in the figure above. In this figure, lab stakeholders are represented as nodes of a graph and edges show interactions between these stakeholders. The type of interaction is written on each edge and direction of the edge shows direction of the interaction. For example, the directional edge of the "Telecommunication Research Center of Iran" nodes to the "Web Services Assessment Lab", with the type of "intermediary" interaction, indicates that the Center for Telecommunication Research is a trusted laboratory.

The laboratory provides services for assessing web services, both automatically and humanely, for web service providers. Most of the services that are assessed by the laboratory are those that have been developed or improved by the Native Search Engine Program, and in other words, the program is considered an investor. The tools and data that are developed or produced in the laboratory are made publicly available to researchers researchers by some conditions. These researchers may also help in the production of tools and data. In such a case, the costs of these assistance will be provided by the Native Search Engine Program.

finally, with regard to the necessity of developing the CrowdSourcing Framework in the laboratory, people who participate as volunteers form a different category of the lab stakeholders. The lab will depend on these people and they do the activities for the lab. These people themselves may also, for whatever reason, plan to carry out an activity through CrowdSourcing. Therefore, they will use the laboratory crowdsourcing and will act as the ordering agent. For this reason, the edge between the shared stakeholders and the lab with the type of activity engagement client is considered to be a bi-directional one. Researchers as well as web developers may, in turn, have activities that require CrowdSourcing. These stakeholders can also interact with the laboratory as an activity contractor and use laboratory CrowdSourcing Framework.
